The story of Les Miserables is set against the backdrop social and political struggles of 19th century France. It revolves around former prisoner Jean Valjean and is all about of broken dreams, unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption. The international award-winning musical is an epic saga of passion and destruction. The show made its debut at the Barbican Centre in October 1985. Les Miserables features some chartbusting numbers such as On My Own, One Day More and Do You Hear The People Sing? The show has been enjoyed by more than 70 million people worldwide in 45 countries and in 22 languages. The spectacular London musical is enthralling audiences since 1986.

The Queen’s Theatre is one of the most popular London West End theatres on Shaftesbury Avenue. In the year 1907, the theatre made its debut as a twin to the neighbouring Hicks Theatre (now renamed as the Gielgud Theatre). W G R Sprague designed the Queen’s and the Gielgud. The theatre was originally going to be stated as the Central Theatre. The theatre was eventually stated as the Queens Theatre.

Due to direct hit by a bomb in September 1940, the façade and lobby of the theatre were destroyed. For almost two decades, the theatre remained closed and underwent refurbishment with modernised exterior. The auditorium remained as Edwardian décor. In the year 1959, theatre was reconstructed in July 1959 with John Gielgud’s solo performance in Shakespeare speeches and sonnets, Ages of Man.

Palace theatre hosted the show for almost 18 years and transferred to the Queen’s Theatre in the year 2004. On 8th October, the musical celebrated its 20th anniversary at the venue and went on becoming the longest running musical of all time.

The story of Les Miserable’s is set against the backdrop of French revolution and revolves around the plight of ex-convict Jean Valjean. The beautiful show is a complete roller coaster ride and an emotional journey. The show features a mesmerising a book along with chartbusting composition by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schonberg, known for penning down some of great shows like Miss Saigon and Martin Guerre.

The show features some great musical numbers such as “I Dreamed a Dream”, “On My Own”, “Stars”, “Bring Him Home”, “Do You Hear the People Sing?”, “Master of the House”, “A Little Fall of Rain” and the show-stopping “One Day More”.

The show was adapted and directed by Trevor Nunn and John Caird, and penned by Herbert Kretzmer. The set design was done by John Napier, costume design by Andreane Neofitou, lighting design by David Hersey and sound design by Mick Potter and Andrew Bruce.

Some of the finest actors have performed such as Sierra Boggess, Danielle Hope, Alfie Boe, Ramin Karimloo, Carrie Hope Fletcher, Rachelle Ann Go and Eva Noblezada. Current casting includes Killian Donnelly as John Valjean, Jeremy Secomb as Javert, Steven Meo as Thénardier, Paul Wilkins as Marius, Carley Stenson as Fantine, Karis Jack as Eponine, Jacqueline Tate as Madame Thénardier, Hyoie O’Grady as Enjolras and Charlotte Kennedy as Cossette.
